HBO Max is one of those super famous streaming platforms, you know? They have a bunch of amazing series, like Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon, The Last of Us and Euphoria, just to name a few.

1. Hereditary (2018)

First on our list of the best films in HBO Max, we have “Hereditary”. After the death of her mother, Annie Graham, her husband Steve, her son Peter and her daughter Charlie go through a period of mourning. 

However, secrets about Annie's mother begin to be revealed, including her unusual fascination with Charlie. 

To deal with their loss, the family turns to unconventional methods, while mysterious events lead them to an uncertain future.

The film is directed by Ari Aster and stars Toni Collete, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff and Milly Shapiro. Rotten Tomatoes critics gave the film a score of 90%, while audiences rated it 70%, and IMDb rated it 7.3.

2. Moonlight: Under the Moonlight (2016)

This is one of the best productions of 2017, winning several awards, including an Oscar for Best Film, and is now available on HBO Max. 

In this way, the film portrays three crucial moments in the life of Chiron, a young black man who lives in a deprived community in Miami. 

From his childhood, when he was bullied, to his journey to discover his sexuality as a teenager and his involvement in the world of crime, Chiron searches for his place in the world and hope for the future.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, the main cast includes Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders and Trevante Rhodes. Rotten Tomatoes rated the film at 98%, Audience at 79%, and IMDb at 7.4.

3. A Star Is Born (2018)

At the height of his fame, singer Jackson Maine meets Ally, a singer who performs at a local bar. Impressed by her talent, he decides to help her pursue a career in music. 

However, as Ally rises to stardom, Jackson sinks deeper into alcoholism.

Directed by and starring Bradley Cooper, the film features Lady Gaga in one of her best screen performances. 

Available on HBO Max, the film received a 90% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, 80% audience approval and a 7.6 rating on IMDb.

4. The Hunger Games (2012)

In a dystopian future, the population of Panem is controlled by a totalitarian regime that governs 12 districts. 

Every year, two young men from each district are selected to fight for survival in a brutal arena where only the strongest survive. 

When Katniss' younger sister Everdeen is chosen to participate in the games, Katniss volunteers to go in her place, alongside Peeta Melark.

“The Hunger Games” is the first film in a series based on the books by Suzanne Collins. 

Directed by Francis Lawrence and Gary Ross, the film features performances by Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and other well-known names.

Finally, the production received a rating of 84% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, 81% from the public and a score of 7.2 on IMDb, only the first film is available on HBO Max.

5. Millennium – The Men Who Didn’t Love Women (2011)

36 years ago, Harriet Vanger mysteriously disappeared on her family's private island. 

Access to the site was strictly controlled, making it unlikely that an outsider kidnapped her. 

However, the mystery of her disappearance was never solved by the police. 

Her uncle Henrik Vanger never gave up on finding her and, therefore, hires Mikael Bomkvist, an investigative journalist from Millenium magazine. Mikael counts on the help of Lisbeth Salander, a skilled and antisocial hacker, to solve the case.

The film is based on the books by Stieg Larsson and was directed by David Fincher. 

Starring Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Christopher Plummer, the film received a rating of 86% from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 7.8 on IMDb.
