Tragic Pool Accident Claims the Life of Talented Professional
Rafael Puglisi, a renowned dentist aged just 35, met his tragic death this Monday (18) in an accident that occurred in his own swimming pool, located in Barueri, Greater São Paulo.
The dentist became known for treating a list of celebrities that includes Neymar, Whindersson Nunes, Juliette, Jade Picon and Larissa Manoela, gaining more than 4 million followers on his Instagram profile.
According to a post on Instagram, Rafael was preparing for a top dive, a daily practice of his. However, on this day, fate had a tragedy in store for him, and he ended up hitting his head while diving. Despite doctors' efforts to revive him, he arrived at the hospital lifeless. The cause of death was a traumatic brain injury, the result of the strong impact.
The family shared on social media that one of Rafael's professional ambitions was to create his own brands and gain recognition.
“Rafa was an exceptional brother, son, nephew, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend! With a captivating smile, he helped countless people around him, whether students, family or friends. His dream was to overcome barriers and be internationally recognized for his professional achievements. And you did it, Rafa! He changed dentistry and the lives of those around him forever! Thank you for everything, thank you for so much!”, stated the statement.
The family requested respect during this time of mourning and informed that the wake and burial will be held privately.
Débora Calabro, Rafael's ex-wife and also a dentist, expressed her pain on social media. In a photo of their hands published in black and white on Instagram, she said: “I'm torn apart. Only I know, only he knows. Only the two of us live. Just the two of us love it.”
The clinic where Rafael worked is located in the Jardins neighborhood, in the South Zone of São Paulo, just two blocks from Avenida Paulista, and is part of the Guy Puglisi Institute of Dentistry (IGP), at the same address.
The institute, with 250 square meters of space, in addition to the procedure rooms, has a special area for rest and meals for patients who come from outside São Paulo.
